Battery technology

Lithium-Iodine (Li-I), Lithium-Manganese Dioxide (Li-MnO2) and Lithium-Carbon Monofluoride (Li-CFx) technologies are the base for our primary batteries used in active implants. They are applied in our standard product lines but are as well available for customized battery solutions.

Our standard product lines cover three ranges of performance for different applications:

High Energy Batteries based on Li-I technology

  • Typical application: implantable pulse generators such as pacemakers
  • Based on Li-I technology
  • Highest volumetric energy densities
  • Lowest self-discharge rates
  • Long operational safety

Medium Rate Batteries based on Li-MnO2 technology

  • Typical application: implantable devices with medium pulse power demands such as pacemakers, neurostimulators or monitors with telemetric functions
  • High power densities
  • Low self-discharge rates
  • No voltage delays

Medium Rate Batteries based on Li-CFx technology

  • Typical application: implantable devices with medium pulse power demands such as pacemakers, neurostimulators or monitors with telemetric functions
  • High power densities
  • Low self-discharge rates
  • No voltage delays

High Power Batteries based on Li-MnOtechnology

  • Typical application: implantable defibrillators and other devices with high pulse power demands
  • Very high power densities
  • Fastest capacitor charging
  • Low self-discharge rates
  • No voltage delays
